Setting the Tone
Hope and Change…Or more of the same?

Hope and Change was  certainly a great slogan for a man running for president.  Why do I know this, because it worked.  President Obama promised the country that things would change and the politics that divided the nation would come to an end.  Now on its face who could argue with that? But is it true?

The handling of BP’s oil spill is as bad as the Katrina response.

Not only is Guantanamo Bay still open it currently houses 181 detainees.

Congressman Sestak was offered some sort of political position to not run for a Senate seat.

The economy is still in the dumps.

Iran is still developing a nuclear program.

Seem like Change to you?

Tom McClintock, proof that some in Congress still have what it takes to stand up for Americans, lets hope more follow his lead.  His speech is worth a listen.
Certainly a man that knows how to Set the Tone

BP has taken a beating in the last few weeks and maybe rightfully so.  Still, does anyone think they wanted this to happen.   They probably turned a blind eye to the possibility of a huge spill like this but so does every other oil company.  I think the “happiest” people on the the plant are Exxon. They are no longer the oil spill of record to the American public.
Things might be looking up though.  Click the logo to read more on how BP is trying to Set the Tone

I like to see a man proud of the place in which he lives.  I like to see a man live so that his place will be proud of him.
Wish our current President felt like this.

Ever wonder how true this really is? Make no mistake, I believe people from other countries deserve to come to the United States.  They however, must do it legally.

Great title isn’t it?  Finally a principled politician from the Garden State.

For all of us tired of the news media, get it right for a change.

GAME 7 NHL Style

A  game 7 in the NHL tonight got most of my sports attention.   The final installment of  the Canadiens vs. Pittsburgh Penguins.  With the crowd at Mellon Arena at a fever pitch  the Penguins and Sidney Crosby, looked to continue their run to a second straight Stanley Cup.  Things looked good for the home team for all of 10 seconds when Crosby, the team Captain took a boarding penalty leading a Montreal powerplay.  Less than a minute later Montreal took the 1-0 lead that they would never relinquish.  Ultimately continuing their improbable run through the Playoffs.

Leading to a real question for this hockey fan.  Can I being pulling for the team that bounced my beloved Washington Capitals from the Playoffs? In most cases I say No,  but in this case you get the best of both worlds.  A Cinderella story (albeit the most successful franchise in the sport with 24 Stanley Cups) takes down a hated rival and continues to be a fantastic story. Especially against the backdrop of the NBA Playoffs which have only provided one good series in the Conference Semifinals.  My answer, and everyone living outside of Pittsburgh, is YES.

Cheers to you Canadiens and may you continue to be the toast of the NHL.

Game to watch to tonight

Cavs vs. Celtics-  Should be a great game but tough to call.  As a lifelong Celtics fan I would love to see them steal this one in Cleveland.  Rondo seems to have taken all the talk shows by storm since his triple double on Sunday.  Paul Pierce is to good to be held down the entire series.  This should be a good sign for Boston fans but let us not forget this is the NBA.  Expect LeBron and crew to come out on fire and get most of the calls especially down the stretch.  Sadly I see this series going back to Boston with the Cavs up 3-2.  Much to the delight of David Stern.
